11:44(IST)PowerPlay time! Kuldeep comes onto have a bowl. Will Maxwell target him? Gets a three first ball to get Marsh on strike who is on 95.
And there it is. This has been a century of the highest order. He had to fight the conditions and the relentless Indian bowling and he has done that really, really well. First slaps Kuldeep wide of backward point for a four before pushing one down the ground to bring up his seventh ODI ton.
11:37(IST)SHOT! In the slot for Marsh and he absolutely clobbers Jadeja wide of long on for a four to move into the 90s. Will he become the first Australian this series to score a ton? Shami meanwhile drops one shot and Maxwell is lucky to get a thick top edge as the ball races over the keeper’s head and into the boundary. Australia bring up their 200 in the 39th over here. How many more can they get?
11:32(IST)Four, Four, Wicket! Stoinis thumps Shami for two successive boundaries but the pacer ultimately has the last laugh. On the shorter side, Stoinis looks to play the pull but gets a feather and Dhoni completes the formalities behind the stumps. Just when it seemed Australia were taking the game away from the visitors, Shami does the job for his captain. Top stuff! Maxwell is the new man in.
11:22(IST)These are really trying conditions in Adelaide. The temperature is touching 41 degrees and batting is really tough. Which is what makes this Marsh innings even better. Runs continue to flow for him as he cuts Jadeja wide of backward point for a four to get to the 80s. 14 overs to go, Australia 180/4 after 36.
11:17(IST)This is following a similar path to the first ODI. The Indian bowlers conceded 93 in the last ten overs. Will they make a better fist of it at Adelaide. The surface is not doing much to be honest, so it will be tough work.
11:16(IST)Virat Kohli sees this partnership as an important one and gets back his key bowler in Bhuvneshwar. Remember, Bhuvi went for aplenty last time around in the death overs. How will he fare here?
Concedes just the four runs on return. Kuldeep meanwhile gets slammed over his head by Marsh who has certainly looked the part so far. Australia – 167/4 after 34 overs.
11:06(IST)Another leg-stump half-volley from Siraj who is really wayward today. Kuldeep comes back into the attack and is lucky to get away with a short ball. A single from Shaun Marsh gets Australia to 150. 18 overs to go in the innings, Australia 154/4 after 32 overs.
11:00(IST)Much better over from Siraj who concedes just the two runs. That is followed by another tidy over from Jadeja. Extremely vital passage of play. India definitely on top but they will have to make sure they do not let things slip as they did in the first outing.
10:51(IST)GOT’EM! Big, big wicket for India considering how well these two were going. Handscomb goes for the big slog sweep off Jadeja, misses and Dhoni is lightning quick to whip the bails off. The umpire goes upstairs but Handscomb is already walking. Goes for 20. Australia 134/4 in 27.2 overs.
10:47(IST)It is not happening for Siraj, unfortunately, He is looking a little rattled. Comes back for his second spell but the result the same. First gets picked up down to fine leg by Handscomb and then is slapped wide of the deep square leg for another four.
10:44(IST)Both these batsmen are setting a good platform for the likes of Maxwell and Stoinis. But both of them will have to ensure they hand around till at least the 35th overs so that the big hitters can go slam bang right from the word go.
10:36(IST)Tidy stuff from Shami, who does not concede a run from the first four balls of the 25th over. Marsh tucks him to the deep midwicket fence for a four but still that is top stuff from the pacer.
10:32(IST)Fifty for Marsh! Well played, Sir. Continues his good run of form from the first ODI. Skips down the track to slam Jadeja past the stumps to collect four before neatly tucking the left-armer to deep midwicket for another run to bring up his half-century – his 14th in ODIs. How Australia will wish him to double it up.
10:29(IST)Good couple of overs for Australia. Marsh is certainly looking the danger man as far as India are concerned. He is using his feet well against the spinners and as soon as the length is dropped short he rocks back and executes the pull with elan. Australia have brought up their 100 in the 22nd over.
10:21(IST)Time to rebuild for Australia now. Peter Handscomb, the star from the first ODI now walks into the middle. He starts off well once again, slapping Kuldeep wide of backward point for a four. Marsh and Handscomb will be absolutely key for the hosts hereon. Australia 97/3 after 21.
10:11(IST)O dear me, what fielding by Jadeja! That is right out of the top drawer. It was an easy single mind you if there was any other fielder on the park, but not Jadeja. Khwaja taps one from Kuldeep to the left of the fielder who swoops in on the ball and in one swift motion fires a throw to knock the stumps down at the non-striker’s end. Khawaja is short by millimeters and India gain the ascendancy again!
10:07(IST)Ravindra Jadeja replaces Siraj who has gone for 34 off his first four overs. So, two left-armers in tandem now. Good start once again, just the four runs off his first over. India will dearly want a wicket now.
10:02(IST)Siraj to resume services after the break. Definitely a tactic from Australia, they are targeting India’s fifth bowler as they did in the first ODI. Not the bets of bowling by Siraj to be far. Short and wide outside off and Marsh cracks it wide of backward point before Khawaja ends the over with another pul down to deep square leg. 13 from the over.
09:54(IST)Drinks! India well on top after the first 16 overs though Marsh and Khawaja have kept things going well post the two wickets up front. Bhuvneshwar and Shami were magnificent with the new ball, now for the rest of the bowlers to capitalize. Australia 61/2 after 15 overs.
09:51(IST)Siraj still trying to find his bearings. Think he trying a bit too much, maybe it is the nerves. Gets one to drift down the pads yet again that is picked away easily by Khawaja. Siraj then drags one short which just sits up for Marsh to pummel it wide of deep square that also brings up Australia’s 50. Khawaja then gets another short one which he handsomely pulls wide of the diving deep square leg fielder. Australia 57/2 after 14.
09:45(IST)Much better second over for Siraj who goes for just a run. Still slightly on the pads, which he will have to correct.
Kuldeep continues to bamboozle the batsmen. Almost gets rid of Saun Marsh with a tweaker that spins past the left-hander late. Australia 46/2 after. They would certainly want to get a move now.
09:37(IST)Right, so we have Kuldeep Yadav come into the attack. He has had a few good weeks in Australia, in the Test in Sydney and then again in the first ODI. Ah, lots of turn right away for the wrist spinner. This is going to delight the youngster. Just the three runs off his first over.
