Analysis:

The equation to this game is very simple. Will the big guns of Brisbane Heat burn down the Strikers or the steady heads of Adelaide will striker down the Heat.

Brisbane have mostly filled their batting slots with their hard hitting batsmen, while Adelaide have trusted their line up with the players who are known to play the anchoring innings. Adelaide’s bowling seems to have a slight edge as their fast bowlers are more economical than Heat’s bowlers. Also the inclusion of World #1 T20  spinner Rashid Khan strengthens their bowling resources further.

Let’s look at the match from the issues Heat have to solve. McCullum, Burns, Ross and Renshaw are woefully out of form. Their recent domestic numbers are very poor. There is some hype about Lynn’s blistering form. But if one carefully checks the recent numbers his form is nowhere near what the analysts describes him of having. He has scored only one 30+ score in the past three months. I don’t know how people describe that as hot form.

Lynn, McCullum, Burns, Ross, Renshaw, Pierson and Labuschagne are known to have their weakness against spin. With Rashid Khan in Adelaide ranks the issue gets much worse for them.

One of the bright spots Heat have is U19 gem Max Bryant. The guy has scored consistently in his recent matches and seems to belong at a higher level. Second is the spin combination of Swepson and their Afghani import Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman. These two can work in tandem to break down Adelaide’s batting. The one thing they have to worry is both the spinners tend to lose their plot when someone counter attacks.

The final problem for the Heat will be the historical record. They have never won a match at home in 3 encounters against the Strikers. The same holds true when they travel (Heat have won 3 and lost 1 against Strikers on away games). Will the home ground curse continue in this match as well?
