Rising Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube smoked five sixes in five deliveries in a Ranji Trophy match against Baroda, just one day ahead of the 2019 IPL auction to put every franchise on notice. The 25-year-old sent Swapnil Singh’s first five deliveries out of the park before the left-arm spinner fired the last ball of the over down the leg side, ensuring that Dube couldn’t get any willow to it. He smashed three fours and seven sixes in his 60-ball 76 as the match between Mumbai and Baroda ended in a draw.
He first hogged limelight with his big-hitting prowess in the T20 Mumbai league where he had smashed five maximums in one over. Dube had a pretty decent Vijay Hazare Trophy but it’s in the ongoing Ranji Trophy where he has made a huge impact. He has so far scored 489 runs, decorated with two centuries and three fifties, and picked up 17 scalps in five matches.

“Yes, Shivam is a very talented player and we have seen how long he hits sixes,” Mumbai skipper Siddhesh Lad said after the match. “I’m sure IPL teams are looking after him and he will go at a good price.”

His strike-rate in T20s reads an exceptional 147.65 and with the ball as well he can conjure up good speeds.

“Every player has a goal to play for the Indian team, and it’s always at the back of my mind. Similar is the case with IPL, as that is where you get the recognition,” Dube had told Cricketnext earlier this month.
