Windies opener Evin Lewis, who didn’t travel to India for the limited-overs series due to personal reasons, has been included in the 15-man squad for the three-match Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh. Chairman of Selectors Courtney Browne hopes “to see a bigger commitment from him to Windies cricket.”Kesrick Williams and Sheldon Cottrell are the other two inclusions, while Obed McCoy and Kieron Pollard, who featured in the series against India, have been ruled out due to injuries.
Meanwhile, Andre Russell, who missed the India tour due to a knee injury but played in the T10 league in UAE thereafter, will give this series a miss. The injured Ashley Nurse too has been left out.
Newcomers like Nicholas Pooran, Khary Pierre, Fabian Allen, Oshane Thomas and uncapped Sherfane Rutherford have retained their places in the squad that will be led by Carlos Brathwaite.
Bangladesh too announced their squad for the series with Imrul Kayes being the only omission from the side currently playing the One-Day Internationals series.
Bangladesh’s last T20I series was also against the Windies, which they won 2-1.
The first T20I will be played in Sylhet on December 17, while the other two will be played in Dhaka on December 20 and 22 respectively.
